Jakob Wiessner was born in Munich, Germany in 1984.
After finishing school he started out working as a photographer, attending Art History classes at the local university and developing a passion for cinema.
From 2006 he studied cinematography at HFF School for Televison and Film in Munich. In 2014 he graduated with the full feature film SIBYLLE, together with director Micheal Krummenacher.
During his studies he was the cinematographer on numerous short and medium length films as well as on three features, that where successfully presented on national and international festivals and distributed in cinema.
FRÄULEIN ELSE by director Anna Martinetz was a awarded the German Critics Prize in 2014. For the series 8 TAGE (Sky Television) he collaborated on the cinematography with Benedict Neuenfels, for BIOHACKERS (Netflix) he created the look and shot the pilot episodes 1-3 with director Christian Ditter.
